The Smithsonian is sponsoring Free Museum Day - on Saturday, Sept 24th.

You can enter your address or browse by state and you should see a list of participating venues. This is worth taking a look at because there can be all sorts of places included.
You will get one ticket per household and that ticket will get 2 people in for free! This could make for a cheap date or a fun Saturday activity with the kiddos.
Some of the venues have limited tickets available so it is usually best to get your ticket printed early.
